My Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 Rebuild Diary 2007. 03/04-September-2007. Made up the replacement
wooden parts for R/H lower wing inspection panel, ready for when I
mix some glue for the centre section spar. I have a friend coming
over to give me a quick covering lesson so I am preparing some parts
for recovering.
I have also created a HELP ME page on this site for areas/parts etc that I don't know what fits. Please have a look especially if you have a Great Lakes 2T-1A-2. Here is this evenings progress:
The missing parts. I have cleared the area of broken parts ready
to replace.

First new part. This needed a cutout area for the spar at an angle
to align with the ribs.
I sanded all parts to esure no shar edges . Also ensured they aligned
exactly with the ribs.

David is coming over to give me some tips on recovering. So I am reparing
some control surfaces ready for his visit.
I have cleaned and taped this HS Stabalizer.
I was looking at an old part covered HS I had. It is in very bad
condition and it is interesting to see the damage. The spar is cracked
and the end of the tube is also cracked where the rivets are.
I found more damage under the covering. This control surface is off serial
no. 771.

the crack is almost totally around the tube. This control surface
is a total writeoff, pleased mine are 100% but it gives me a good idea
what to check on mine.
